Peter Edwards
Director, Fairfield and Woods
Edwards has been advising growth-stage technology businesses as a lawyer and venture capital investor for over 30 years. He counsels privately held technology companies through the entire financial and legal life-cycle, from founding through multiple financing rounds and ultimately through a sale or public offering. His background as a principal investor, venture capitalist and corporate lawyer enables him to offer growth-stage companies a rare combination of hands-on, practical advice as well as technical legal guidance and execution.
From 1996 to 2008, Edwards helped launch the globally recognized venture capital firm Altira Group LLC, initially as its outside general counsel and later as a partner and principal investor. In that capacity, Edwards developed a widespread network of contacts and appeared frequently as a speaker at seminars and conferences. He is known nationally as an adviser, lawyer and strategist for growth-stage, venture-funded technology businesses, particularly those in cleantech and alternative energy.
Before joining Altira, Edwards spent 20 years in private and corporate legal practice representing a broad array of technology clients in business transactions, litigation and intellectual property matters in the fields of implantable medical devices, pharmaceuticals, energy, software, the Internet and telecommunications.
