Charles Eggert
President and Chief Executive Officer, OpX Biotechnologies
Charles Eggert joined OpX Biotechnologies as president and
chief executive officer in September 2008. At OpX he is applying
more than 30 years of experience in the global specialty
chemical industry to the commercialization of biorefined
fuels and chemicals from renewable resources using the OpX
EDGE (TM) technology for metabolic engineering.
Prior to joining OpX, Eggert was president of the specialty
polymers group, a $500 million revenue division of Akzo Nobel.
The group was responsible for innovating and supplying natural
and synthetic polymers to a broad range of industrial and
consumer product customers. Earlier, he held top management
responsibility for the food ingredients - Europe and global
personal care business units of ICI/National Starch and Chemical
Company prior to the acquisition of ICI by Akzo Nobel. While
at ICI, he was a board director of the American Chemistry
Council.
Eggert began his career with Monsanto Co., progressing through
roles in technology, manufacturing, business development,
marketing, and general management with increasing responsibilities.
His work at Monsanto included an assignment as vice president
of Monsanto Venture Capital.
Eggert earned a Master of Business Administration degree in
marketing and finance from Washington University in St. Louis
and a Master of Science degree in biochemical engineering
from the University of Minnesota. He also holds a Bachelor
of Science degree in chemical engineering from Washington
University.
