Opportunities for Success in

Electric Vehicles:

“With 30 million commercial trucks and buses on the roads worldwide contributing over 20% of the total greenhouse gas emissions, private, non-profit, and government fleets are getting on board with electrification. In some cases the interest stems from shareholder, customer, and employee demands for the companies they do business with be more sustainable. In many cases its because city, state, and federal governments are mandating zero emissions targets for fleets. Regardless of the reason for the changing landscape, there are tens of billions of dollars worth of commercial fleet vehicles that will be move from internal combustion to zero emissions in the next 10-20 years which is a great opportunity for Lightning Systems.” – Nick Bettis, Director, Business Development, Lightning Systems

A Word of Advice for Early-Stage Cleantech Entrepreneurs:

“Probably the single most important business area that any early-stage entrepreneur needs to get right is customer service. It’s easy to get 100% focused on sales, marketing, and production and treat support and service as an afterthought. In most cases, the one thing that is certain is that early lifecycle products will have some hiccups. Early adopter customers will recognize this and work with you rather than against you if you provide top notch support and be ultra-responsive.”

Exciting Advancements in the Next 3-5 Years:

“We’re excited about the sense of urgency that is developing around zero emission transportation. The threat of global climate change is now a top-of-mind concern for most people and driving an evolving market. Major passenger vehicle OEMs are shifting toward electric vehicles. Demand and funding for charging infrastructure is rapidly expanding. Consumers are demanding a sustainable approach to operations from those companies they do business with. Government agencies are seeing the benefits to supporting zero emissions vehicle legislation and incentive programs for their communities. All of these changes are now driving the commercial fleet markets to take notice and begin converting their dirty gasoline and diesel fleets to zero emissions and Lightning Systems is ready to meet the growing demand.”
